#7 Bill Gates
Bill Gates is among the most prominent entrepreneurs in the world. In 1975, he left Harvard University to start his own business. He did it after discussing that decision with his parents, who decided to support their middle child and let him pursue his goals. Gates and Paul Allen co-founded tech giant, Microsoft, which became the largest PC software company in the world. While running it, Gates held the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect (a position he created especially for himself), and was the largest individual shareholder of the company until May 2014. He is also one of the famous people to drop out of college to start a business. Gates’ net worth as of January 2016 was estimated at US$79 billion.
